He is a lifelong Lorain County resident where he currently resides with his wife Kaleena and their 3 daughters Octavia, Sophia, and Eliza.
Since September 2014, Mr. Frank Whitfield has served as President & CEO of the Lorain County Urban League. Prior to leading the Urban League, Frank worked in public service for over a decade including as a foundation representation at Nord Family Foundation, a digital inclusion instructor at Lorain County Community College, and even co-founding an urban agriculture initiative Eden Vision.
Frank has been recognized for his ability to be innovative, mobilize and engage communities, and bring disparate groups together around a common purpose. Since joining the Urban League they have hosted several Diversity and Inclusion conferences and events including a Unity Day event in 2016 which featured Dr. Bernice King, daughter of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. as the keynote speaker. While at Nord Family Foundation, Frank founded the Next Generation Fund which was dedicated to building leadership and business capacity within nonprofit professionals. Throughout his career in public service over the past 15 years he has served as a mentor, tutor, trainer, community organizer, keynote speaker, coach, and executive.
Frank’s educational background includes an Associate’s degree from Lorain County Community College, Bachelor's degree from Cleveland State University, and MBA candidate and Certified Executive Coach from Case Western Reserve University.
Frank has volunteered on various boards, committees, councils, and social clubs including President of Elyria Sunrise Rotary, Chair of Lorain County Children Services, Chair of Community Advisory Council for Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency, Save Our Children Elyria, and the Lorain City Schools Academic Distress Commission.
Frank has received many awards due to his service including awards from the Elyria NAACP, Lorain City Schools, Urban League, Negro Professional and Business Women’s Club.
